was adopted as an infant and named Audrey Faith Perry. Her adoptive parents raised he in a devout Christian environment. As she started singing, her vocal talent was apparent early and at the age of seven, Faith had her first public performance. There were times when she would sing for prisoners at the Hinds County Jail with Amazing Grace being her song of coice. Eventually she made it to Nashville to audition as a backup singer for Reba McEntire
, but failed to secure the job.The she became a secretary at a music publishing firm.
Eventually as she worked at the firm one of her co-workers heard her sing and soon the head of the company was encouraging her to become a demo singer for the firm. This work, led her to do supplemental wor for songwriter Gary Burr, and during one of her performances, an exec from Warner Bros. Records was in the audience and began the process of signing her to a recording contract.
